Maria Gordon Shydlo

With nearly 20 years of front-line public relations experience across a broad range of business sectors, Maria provides clients with expert communications management and guidance from Padilla Speer Beardsley's New York City office.
Before joining Padilla, Maria spent more than eight years in the health care industry - first with Oxford Health Plans and then with UnitedHealthcare following its 2004 acquisition of Oxford. She oversaw media relations, issues/crisis management, community relations and business-association relations for the Northeast region, while handling numerous national projects in the areas of compliance, medical delivery and consumer education. Prior to Oxford's acquisition, she also supported investor relations.
Before joining Oxford, Maria held senior positions at other national public relations firms, working with clients in finance, business-to-business and technology. Those included UPS, Citibank, British Airways, Standard & Poor's and Time Inc.
Maria graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in communication from Marist College and completed an investor relations program at New York University. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, the International Association of Business Communicators, Women in Communications, the National Investor Relations Institute and Women in Health Care Management.
She also is active in the community, serving on the communications team for the American Red Cross of Westchester County, the advisory committee for Marist College's School of Communication and the Lincoln Center Business Council.
